My re-energized* fiber art of basketry, sewn mats, nature-dyed and hand-embellished silk scarves, notecards, and handmade paper wall pieces are shown below. My soft-sculpture Women Warriors and SnipPets© like to be felt and held and squeezed and fondled to be fully appreciated… can’t put them into your hands virtually, but you can now see a bit of them…
*re-energized = most of the materials I use are items that would typically be discarded or trashed. I give them new life and pass on that energy to you!

Sewn Fibers
SnipPets© and Women Warriors:
Some of my most fun and creative creatures, these lovelies are really hard to photograph for you to see them in their entire wonderfulness. Videos will have to suffice until I can get them into your hands!
SnipPets©:
Pocket protector, talisman, worry doll,…these little loves can go by a lot of different names. SnipPets came about as I was using all the snippets of cloth salvaged from the late Pat Statzer’s quilting scraps.
To show as much as possible of these cuties, there is a video for each one. All are made from miscellaneous fabric scraps, fibers, threads, yarns, buttons (some from my grandmother’s tin), plus bits and bobs of life, and stuffed with polyester filling (squishiest) or bits of cloth (firmer squish). They all are squeezable and feel good in my hand – hoping they feel good in your hands, too. Various sizes (as listed). Some have been embroidered. All have been made with care and love.
From Carolyn: “I really like how the SnipPets© have evolved; they are whimsical and endearing!”
Not sold as a toy for under 3 years of age. If that is what you are looking for, let me know and I will custom-tailor one for you.
Each SnipPet©: $15.
[Kindly disregard the sounds you might hear – turntable/recording noises!]
Women Warriors : Feminine Fetishes for Turbulent Times
There’s a lot of backstory to the Women Warriors. First, the original name included No-Waste as I am determined to use everything I possibly can to keep our landfill filling to a minimum. The shape is based on a candle form as it was the image that came from a Gloria Steinem quote regarding passing on her light. The warrior is the need to have a crusader on my side. And the idea that it represents a woman just makes sense as we all come from women. Lots more behind it – all of which will be included with any purchase. AND for EVERY purchase, 50% of the price will be donated to Women Helping Women, a social services organization in Cincinnati, OH preventing gender-based violence and empowering all survivors.
Each Women Warrior is made entirely from recycled materials that I have collected over the course of years. All have some sort of ‘flame’ at the top. All are hand-stitched. Some are soft and squeezable. Some are rigid. They all have a small hanger stitched onto the back to hang it from a hook or chain or … (the hanger can also be easily removed if desired).
Sizes vary as listed. Not sold as a toy for under 3 years of age.
Woman Warriors: $15.00 each.
Since the following Women Warriors were already on display boards, I kept them grouped for ease in listing them. They are still available individually.

Nature-Dyed Silk Scarves
Nature does a terrific job of depositing color and design wherever it can. The bits of nature that find their way to my silk scarves are subtle, rich, inviting and intriguing. Check out how nature blesses us without hardly trying.
The only marks on these lovely wardrobe additions come directly from nature.
Trails – added marks resemble trails throughout the scarf.

Miscellaneous Nature-Dyed Scarves
Each type of fiber takes natural color differently. Each person likes a particular length and width to wear. The following scarves are a sampling of nature-dyed beauties that do not fit the silk category above. All need gentle care: hand wash cool, mild detergent, minimal agitation. See individual scarf details for other instructions and pricing.

Handmade Paper
Handmade paper (HMP) can be made from all sorts of plants which have strong fibers within either the stems or leaves. The non-cellulose parts get cooked out of the plants and the strong fibers get reduced into their finest and smallest forms by either a blender or Hollander beater. Those fibers are then collected on a screen to form a sheet of paper. Each plant has different characteristics which show up in the paper that is made.
HMP Notecards:
The outer paper is handmade from various fiber pulps (e.g. leeks, rice, curly dock, palm, etc.) and then embellished with machine sewn scraps of cloth. Each card contains a commercial paper insert for easy writing plus a commercial envelope for mailing. The various pulps range from white-ish (cotton) to tans, greens (leeks) and medium browns (curly dock). Stock on hand changes regularly as well as the cloth scraps available – no two alike!
Size: 5.5″ x 4 1/4″ 2 cards/set for $10.
