By now you are probably tired of hearing about the ORBS installation at the Indianapolis Art Center. It is still there – a bird or something has started nesting in one of the orbs, the big guy has shifted a bit and a small one popped out of its resting place (we had overlooked securing him – he’s in for good now), but that is all so far.
What is new is the official ‘unveiling’ – strange term since there is no way on earth the whole thing can be veiled! – that will happen Friday, Sept 14, 5-9pm. Fellow artist Bonnie Zimmer will be in attendance; unfortunately, I will not be able to make the reception. There are all sorts of other exhibits and artists being highlighted that same night – it should be a wonderful wild time. Address and directions can be found at the link above. If you find yourself at the reception, raise a glass for me!
A winter walk-through with the artists is being planned for the afternoon of Friday, February 15, 2008 followed by a random weave workshop the following day. Winter should be a nice time to see all the orbs.
The installation will remain in the sculpture garden for up to two years. Unless the pieces deteriorate a lot faster than we think they will. So, you have plenty time to enjoy the work. In all seasons and weather. I hope you get a chance to do so!
