Touch down!

Made it safely to Sydney and have been traveled up the Blue Mountain range, courtesy Helen H, to Medlow Bath. Enjoying the lovely home and surrounds of Kath and Mark W and their small dogs Lillipulli and Oosha.

A bit on the damp and chilly side today with a promise of sunshine later. We are on the hunt today for a local source of one of my mudcloth ‘ingredients’.

Jet lag not too bad just yet, but I expect I will be a bit tired later today. Mark just came in the house bearing a bag of fresh picked porcini mushrooms. Dinner is looking great already!

Get set….

Oh, the piles!  They don’t seem to diminish.  Just added clothes today to the piles. Thought that would be a good idea…

Will be trying to squeeze out as much air as possible from all I can to get everything to fit. I think I’ll be okay weight-wise…

As a little follow-up to my blue results from avocado – after a washing they are now more purple than blue!  Seriously love the magic – wish I could understand the science!

Get ready…

… For a fabulous adventure! I will be heading down under early next month for three very full months of teaching, traveling and time with friends.

The piles are growing of things I need and want to take along. Making sure it all fits and comes in within the weight limit will be a trick!

My hope is to keep this blog updated regularly during my travels…. Time will tell!

Back from NY

The Eastern Great Lakes Fiber Conference went extremely well.  Held at the Chautauqua Institute in NY, we enjoyed the lovely autumn coloring, the mist on the lake in the mornings and the cool crisp air morphing into warm sunny days.

About 70 very fun fiber folks attended sharing their fiber passions and craziness.  I felt in good company! My students were the absolute best in both the twining session as well as the mudcloth class. I did get some pictures of some of their incredible work, but haven’t had a chance to upload them yet.

It is always a delight to meet new folks and pure joy to reconnect with old-time friends – and both happened in NY.

I was able to add to the pleasure of the trip with a stop in Cleveland on the way home, visiting with my eldest and youngest sons and a lovely blooming young mother-to-be.  Grandchild #2 is due in a couple weeks – can’t wait!

End of a good thing

This evening we took down the yarn bombing on Central Parkway. All the while we worked people stopped their cars and/or shouted out how much they liked what we had done and couldn’t we leave it up a bit longer?! One downtown denizen pleaded with us to leave one of the planter wraps at the corner where he ‘works’.   Lots of smiles still.  Makes it all worthwhile.

Just about all ready for the trip to EGLFC in NY. Will pack the car tomorrow. It’s amazing how much ‘stuff’ I just have to have for teaching when I drive vs how much actually goes with me when I fly!  These folks are getting the better deal, for sure!  We’ll be playing with soft sculpture twining and mudcloth – great combination.

OOOOH! Just realized this is my 300th post!  Hurray for me!
